This month we’re shining the spotlight on one of our amazing teachers, Ivy!
If you’ve ever taken class with Ivy, you know her calm energy and thoughtful cues can make even the toughest poses feel like an act of kindness. Her teaching blends grounding, strength, and ease in a way that leaves you feeling more connected to yourself, body and mind.
Root Down to Rise Up
One of Ivy’s favorite cues is “root down to rise up. She reminds students that grounding through your feet, hands, or breath creates the stability that lets your whole body expand with ease. It’s a simple phrase with a big message. Balance strength with softness and let your practice lift you from a place of support.
The Power of Props
Like all of us, Ivy’s practice has evolved through both strength and challenge. After working through a hamstring issue, she learned the beauty of using props for support. She says, “Props aren’t about doing less, they’re about creating the space your body needs to heal and release safely. ”That’s a reminder we can all use. Your yoga practice is about honoring where you are, not pushing past it.
Cozy Fall Rituals
When Ivy’s not teaching, you might find her hiking, catching live music, or settling in with a true crime doc and a matcha latte. Her fall ritual is lighting a candle and playing deep, moody jazz while soaking in that cozy, grounding energy.
And if you ask her for one piece of advice to carry through your practice, she’d tell you:
“Yoga isn’t about judgment. It’s about showing up for yourself, honoring where you are, and letting your practice be a gentle space of self-acceptance.”
We’re so grateful to have Ivy as part of our Hippie Yoga community. Come take a class with her this month, root down, rise up, and feel the difference.
