We asked, and you voted! The champion of March Matness is none other than Supine Figure Four Twist—a pose that combines the best of a gentle twist and a hip opener. Whether you love it for its deep stretch or its ability to help you unwind, this pose is a true favorite in our community!
Why We Love Supine Figure Four Twist
This pose is a game-changer for:
✅ Hip & Lower Back Relief – Opens tight hips and stretches the glutes while gently decompressing the spine.
✅ Spinal Mobility – Encourages flexibility in the spine with a safe, supported twist.
✅ Relaxation & Stress Relief – The deep stretch activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping you relax.
✅ Digestive Health – Twisting poses can support digestion and reduce bloating.
How to Practice:
1️⃣ Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the mat.
2️⃣ Cross your right ankle over your left thigh, forming a figure-four shape.
3️⃣ Gently lower both legs to the left, allowing your right foot to rest on the mat.
4️⃣ Extend your arms out to a T or cactus shape, keeping shoulders grounded.
5️⃣ Hold for 5-10 breaths, then switch sides.
Variations to Try:
🔹 Supported Version – Place a block or pillow under your bottom knee for extra support.
🔹 Deeper Stretch – Press your top knee away gently for a bigger hip release.
🔹 Gentler Twist – Keep your foot on the mat instead of crossing the leg for a softer spinal rotation.
