The pose that does nothing

Supported Bridge doesn't look like much.

You lie down. You put a prop under your hips. And then... you pretty much do nothing.

Which is exactly why we love it.

We spend a LOT of time asking our bodies to do things. Sit at a desk. Drive the car. Stare at a screen. Carry the groceries. Pick up the dog. Work out. Get shit done.

And through all of it, your spine and hips are just along for the ride.

Supported Bridge is a chance to give them a little love.

The prop does the work of holding you up, which means you don't have to. It gives the front of the hips and chest some space, lets the spine settle into a different position, and gives your body a chance to stop DOING for a few minutes.

And that last part might be the hardest part.

We are really good at thinking more effort = more benefit.

Yoga likes to remind us that isn't always true.

Sometimes the pose where you do less is exactly the pose you need.

Supported Bridge is our Pose of the Month, so we'll be playing with it throughout August. We'll talk about why we use it, different ways to set it up, and how to find the version that feels good in YOUR body.

No gold stars for the highest block.

No prize for staying the longest.

Just get comfy, let the block do its job, and see what happens.
