This October, our Pose of the Month is Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II)
A classic pose that’s all about strength, focus, and staying grounded.
🌟 Benefits of Warrior II
Strength & Stability: Builds strength in the legs, core, and shoulders while improving balance.
Hip Opener: Encourages healthy external rotation in the hips.
Focus & Presence: Holding the gaze over your fingertips helps train concentration and mental steadiness.
Grounding Energy: With one foot rooted firmly behind you and the other pointing forward, Warrior II reminds us to stand strong in the present moment.
💡 Helpful Hints for Your Warrior II
Check your stance: Think about the feet standing on a tight rope, unless you feel wobbly then stand on a wider plank
Lengthen the Low Back: Picture your low back/tailbone growing longer. This will soften any pitching in the low back and help engage the pelvic floor.
Open Your Chest: Picture your collar bones growing wider or your heart peeling open. This will help soften your shoulder away from your ears.
Root to rise: Press into your feet to feel more grounded and powerful.
Steady your gaze: Let your drishti (focus) be soft and strong as you look past your fingertips.
This month, notice how Warrior II shows up in your practice. The longer you hold it, the more you’ll discover the balance between effort and ease.
