Traditional Yoga got Somethings Wrong

There's a version of yoga that says: this is how it has always been done, so this is how it must be done.

I am not interested in that version.

We know more about the human body than we did 50 or even 5 years ago. We understand how joints work, how fascia responds to movement, what creates sustainable mobility and what causes injury. Yoga- good yoga should reflect that.

The poses that used to be taught without props, without modifications, without ever asking 'how does this feel in your body?' We've moved past that. We should have.

That's not disrespecting the practice. That's honoring it by doing it better.

Modern yoga isn't watered-down yoga. It's yoga that actually works for the body you have right now, in the life you're actually living.

At Hippie, we've always believed that. It's why we teach the way we do. It's why we use props, offer modifications without shame, and never pressure anyone to 'push through' something that doesn't feel right.

Yoga has evolved. We think that's a very good thing.
