Sometimes the most powerful poses don’t look like much.
This January, our Pose of the Month is Mountain Pose. Simple. Steady. Often overlooked. And incredibly important.
Mountain Pose is about returning to the basics. Standing tall. Feeling your feet on the ground. Stacking your body in a way that supports you instead of fighting you.
In a season where many of us are getting back into routine, Mountain Pose reminds us that strength starts with alignment and awareness. It’s the foundation for so many poses in yoga, but it’s also a practice in presence.
Physically, Mountain Pose helps:
Improve posture
Build awareness of alignment
Engage the legs and core without strain
Create a stable base for movement
Mentally, it offers something just as valuable:
A moment to pause
A chance to check in
A reminder that you don’t need to do more to be doing enough
Mountain Pose teaches us how to stand with intention. Balanced. Grounded. Ready.
You’ll see Mountain Pose woven throughout classes this month, sometimes as a brief pause, sometimes as a place to reset, and sometimes as a reminder to come back to yourself.
This week’s invitation: Next time you’re in Mountain Pose, stay for a breath or two longer. Feel your feet. Notice your posture. Let yourself arrive.
Strong doesn’t always look flashy. Sometimes it just looks steady.
