“New research finds that a yoga class designed specifically for back pain can be as safe and effective as physical therapy in easing pain.”
This amazing quote comes from an article written by Allison Aubury at www.npr.org. This is something people who have been practicing yoga for a while may already believe. Yoga postures gently strengthen the muscles of the back and abdominal area. These muscles help maintain good posture and can help reduce or avoid some back pain. Stretching is also an important part of keeping the back healthy and supple. Guess what??? We stretching in yoga too!!! According to spine-health.com “Consistent practice and application will result in improved posture, and an increased sense of balance, with head, shoulders and pelvis in proper alignment. Additionally, unlike many other forms of exercise, yoga helps stretch and strengthens both sides of the body equally.”
Not only does yoga help you feel good it help your back stay strong and flexible!
