Legs up the wall is also known as the fountain of youth pose. So when you can’t make it to a yoga class but you need a little refresher, putting your legs up the wall is a great pose to do at home.
It is easy to do, all you need is wall space or any chair will do. Sit with your hips as close to the wall as possible. Gracefully, lay down swinging your legs up the wall. Stay here for 2 – 20 minutes. You can also place your legs over the seat of a chair or on the couch.
I love this pose after a long road trip or when I’ve been on the computer too long. There are so many wonderful benefits to putting your legs up the wall. This pose;
- calms the nervous system
- helps quiet the mind
- relieves tired and sore muscles
- helps circulation
- helps relieve lower back pain
- stretches the hamstrings
- and much more
Taking a small step like this each day can help improve your overall health.
