Legs up the wall

The Holiday Season can be exciting, fun and a little stressful.  We have extra things to get done. We may not be getting enough sleep and eat or drink a little extra too.  During this busy time of the year it is important that we make sure we are taking a little time to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. Attending a yoga class is a great way to do just that, but if you can make it to your favorite class here is a great yoga pose that can easily be done at home.
Legs up the wall…or couch.
Legs up the wall has many benefit to our bodies and minds.
  • It helps soothes body and mind before bed
  • It lowers your blood pressure.
  • It can help relive lower back tension
  • It helps soothe swollen or cramped legs and feet.

It is easy to do.  Find an open space on a wall.  Lay on your side with your bottom as close to the wall as you can, head away from the wall.  As you roll on to your back swing your legs up the wall.  If you do not have enough wall space you can place you leg over a chair seat.  rest with your legs up the wall for 2 – 10 minutes.  To get out of this pose.  Bend your knees and roll on your side.  Stay on you side for a moment or two to allow your body to adjust.
